What can I expect?
Advanced Placement English Language and Composition has three layers. You will experience a survey of American Literature from Native American folk tales to contemporary poetry. At the same time, you will be preparing for the May AP Exam. Outside of class, you will complete 600 pages of independent reading, one-third of which must be non-fiction.
Can you handle this work load? Yes, you can if you do not procrastinate. The best way to get a jump on this work is to read over the summer. Choose a novel or non-fiction book that is on your reading level (not too easy, not too challenging) and apply it to your outside reading requirement. Since we will be on an A-day, B-day schedule with AP US History, you will often have two days to complete homework assignments.
