Do not confied in someone unless you trust that person or it will be like carring a bag of grain with a hole in it.It can ruin your relationship with someone that you were close to. Choose your friends wisely that always helps. It can be pointless to be friends with someone that you dont trust.

The proverb means only tell secrets to people you trust other wise the secrets will no longer be secret.I know not to tell secrets to everyone I meet which is why I cannot think of a situation to help support this statement.

Well I think that this proverb means if your going to tell a secret to someone tell it to someone you can trust. If you tell it to someone unworthy they will spill your secret. This has happened to me plenty of times so I try to keep most of my secrets to myself. I think it is always better to keep most of them to yourself unless there is someone you can really trust. That's why they are secrets they are meant to stay that way not for everyone in the world to know. This is another comment by Antonio G.

During the 2010-2011 school year, our school had five principals. The stress got to be too much for me. I e-mailed someone at the central office to ask what other jobs were out there because I needed to get away from the stress. That person immediately e-mailed one of my co-workers and told him that I wanted to leave. I was INCENSED! I confided a secret to an unworthy person, and that person leaked it. I know now to be very, very careful whom I tell my secrets to because, like a bag of grain with a hole in it, a person can spill a secret too.

The Ethiopian proverb that we are discussing is “Confiding a secret to an unworthy person is like carrying grain in a bag with a hole”. It is saying that if you tell someone who is unworthy of knowing that secret then your secret will be known by everyone. In today’s world, trust is a hard thing to gain or to keep. If you tell someone you know that you can’t trust a secret you are leaving yourself open. I was leaving the house one day, and told my brother that I was going to meet my friend when I was supposed to be going to the library. He then told my mom what I was doing, and I got grounded. I know now that while brothers can be good they can also rat you out.

This proverb uses a simile to allow people to relate this event to something that can be more easily understood. A sac with holes in it carrying grain will inevitably spill large amounts of the item being transported. Much like an unworthy person will inevitably divulge information told to them in confidence. This proverb is simply a reminder to choose those who you trust carefully. I do so in my daily life by looking upon a person’s character as a judge of whether they are worthy or not to be confided in.

What it means is that you know that the secret will come out and spread till it is everywhere. The hole in the bag will spill the grain on the floor, and the unworthy person is like the hole in the bag, he will spill your secret whether he means to or not. An example of this would be, trusting your friend with a secret even though you know he has a big mouth. It tells you that you should be careful with who you trust, because they will spill your secret like the hole in the bag spills the grain.

It means that telling an untrustworthy person a secret is not a good idea, because your secret will eventually be told. One day i told one of my best friends my deepest secrets that only I knew and she promised to keep it. I told her everything and one day she had gotten mad and told all my secrets. I was so angry and so upset That I had told her we would not be friends again, so angry that i wanted to beat her up. I was feeling incredulous, couldnt believe that this happened. Now I know I have to sew that hole up and keep my secrets to myself.

The saying "confiding a secret to an unworthy person is like carrying grain in a bag with a hole" means if you try to explain to the person and they don't believe you what's the point of explaining it to them. Your just wasting your breathe trying to explain the thing that's right. The hole in the bag means when you tell them, what you say comes in the ear and comes out the other ear. In the end they don't believe on what you say.

To me the sack represents a person and the grains are the secret's that you told them.
I learned that if you are going to tell people something personal you need to be sure you can trust them. I personally can't remember a time when someone told my secret, but i will be sure to trust my friends more before i tell them stuff.

I think that Ethiopian proverb means that if you are carrying grain in a bag with a hole in it, the grain is falling out. If you tell a secret to an "unworthy" person, then the secret is not likely to stay so for long. This has happened to me. When I had told my friend, who I didn't trust that I like this girl name Maria, and after about 2 to 3 weeks everybody started talking to me about Maria. I found out that he was the wrong guy to tell a secret to.He told almost the whole school and by the end of the year Maria found out and by that time I went to a different school. It was the most hiliarious moment ever.In 8th grade, I met Maria and we started going out but then in the beginning of 9th grade we broke up.I now know that I have to be careful and tell someone who is really trustworthy.

This proverb is talking about telling a deep dark secret to someone who can't keep it to themselves. In my life I can relate because people you think that you can trust turn and tell your deepest darkest secrets. Its like they just gotta tell everything that goes on. They get some type of information, and they just have to tell someone quick and in a hurry. That then makes you think that you cant ,and you wont be able to trust anyone with any of your information.

I think the proverb means that if you tell an unworthy person your secret he will go and tell another. The other man will go and tell another and your secret will no longer be yours. I once told a secret to one of my “friends” and she went and told one of hers. By the end of the day a lot of people knew my secret and it was not mine any more. I don’t tell anyone my secret anymore and if I do I only tell members of my family.

I think the proverb is teaching a lesson based on truth. I think you should only tell a secret to people you trust.Sometimes the people you trust aren't even trustworthy.I have a huge secret that knowbody knows.

If you can't trust someone than don't tell them your secret. It means that if your carrying grain in a bag with a hole, the grain is most likely going to fall. So if you tell a person that you dont trust them they will tell your sercret. It has happened to me when I told a friend my sercret and the next day she told everyone.

The proverb meant that as soon as you tell a secret to someone its like telling everybody that secret. I had a friend that I told everything to. One day he decided to tell one of his friends my secret. He wasn't aware that his friend didn't like me. His friend decided to tell everyone that he knew, as a joke. Til' this day I'm still ambivalent about telling my secrets.

This proverb is a very true one. It is super common. It means that trusting someone who is unworthy is not very smart. It's like a man working hard just to lose it all to the wind. Once i met this gossipy girl who wanted to be friends. I told her something that wasn't true to "test" her and see if i could trust her. But no she was not trust worthy. Everyone ended up hearing about it. So that leads me to believe that; Confiding a secret to an unworthy person is like carrying grain in a bag with a hole.

I think this is a very true proverb. I have gone through that so many times. So many times I've been deceived. I have met a lot of wholes in the bag. The saddest part is that there will ALWAYS be at LEAST one whole in the bag and he will be the least you would expect. Sometimes I wish people were like rainbows, so you could see their true colors.
