English 9 is an introductory course intended to give students an overview of literary genres. It is comprised of six goals, five of which are dedicated to reading and literary analysis skills. Goal 6 is all about editing, the process of finding and correcting errors in sentence formation, usage, and mechanics.

Students taking English 9 will end the semester with an End-of-Course test (EOC), which they must pass in order to graduation from a North Carolina high school.
