In a well-written, error-free paragraph, explain whether or not you believe in fate (i.e., destiny, predetermination).  Be careful about sentence variety, verb tense, apostrophes, commas, and agreement.
Write a paragraph of four to five sentences answering this question:
Do you believe in love at first sight? Your paragraph must contain two types of sentences, and there should be no agreement, punctuation, or sentence structure errors.
Write a short response to this excerpt from page 68 of Chapter 5: "I was no longer able to lament. On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was the accuser, God the accused. My eyes had opened and I was alone, terribly alone in a world without God, without man. Without love or mercy."
In a grammatically perfect paragraph, respond to this question: What are the effects of prejudice? You may refer to the book, your own life, and the lives of others.
Your comment today will be about Chapter 3, in which Elie and Chlomo Wiesel are indoctrinated into camp life at Auschwitz. When you get to page 46, stop and respond in writing to what you have read. As a form of review, use at least two of the following words in your response: lose, loose, their, there, and they're. Watch your sentence structure, usage, and mechanics. Don't worry about strict support and elaboration, but do use specific details from the chapter.

Comment today on the photograph being projected onto the SmartBoard. Respond with one sentence of detail and one sentence of elaboration to this topic sentence: The Nazis showed little respect for the humanity of their victims.

By 1945, Jews were being exterminated as soon as they came off the trains at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When the allies (Russia, England, and the US) arrived to liberate the camps, there were bodies everywhere, some partially burned and others just lying where they fell when they starved to death.

In your comment today, use your first initial so that I can identify your writing for a daily grade.
There were two death camps near the Polish town of Auschwitz. The first picture below is of the  crematorium at Auschwitz I, the smaller of the two camps. The second image is of the much larger crematorium at Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous death camp. For your post today, write a paragraph making a connection between these two images and the content of Chapter 2 of Night. You must have PERFECT sentence structure, usage, and mechanics; and you must make specific references to both the chapter and the images.

The picture projected on the SmartBoard is of a cattle car used to transport Jews to a death camp. The picture below is of the more common closed cattle car. Write three sentences in reaction to the images (topic sentence, concrete detail from the image, and elaboration).
For today's warm-up to the rising action in Night, comment on the photograph displayed on the SmartBoard. Today, let's take it up a notch and comment using a topic sentence, a concrete detail in which you refer to a detail in the photo, and a sentence or two of elaboration.

Here are some topic sentence templates:
The Nazi extermination of the Jews was ________.
